Tim Holtz - Creative Chemistry 101 class - Day 9  - Perfect Pearls

Created: March 29, 2012
Modified:

I decided to take Tim's 2 week class - Chemistry 101. These samples are from Day 9.

Now these are more my color palette... I love Perfect Pearls.

Perfect Distress Mist:

You're not able to see the sparkle from the Perfect Pearls on this tag, but it's definitely there...

So mix a mini misters with your dropper full of Distress Re-inker and then a nice amount of Perfect Pearls, 3/4 full of water, shake up (put a medium sized pearl bead in to mix). I used Barn Door with Perfect Gold; Vintage Photo with Perfect Bronze; and Mustard Seed with Kiwi.

Dried, then stamped my images (Another Stamp Co "Masquerade Couple"; Faerie Song "Magic") with Archival Black.

Perfect Distress:

The first tag I made did not turn out very nicely and was done on a manila tag.

So started a new one on 110# white cardstock. Used Distress Stains Milled Lavender & Broken China, misted heavily with water (bkgr'd needs to be very light colored) and dried (very important step).

Stamped my large butterfly (Penny Black "Soft Wings") using my custom pad from a few days ago, and just moving the stamp all over the pad as needed. Used Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls, pounced pearls into image and dusted off excess. Dried and then misted the image to let the colors from the butterfly wick out. Immediately dry again or there will be too much wicking...

Stamped the small butterfly (Flourishes) with the same custom pad. Stamped the quote (Flourishes) with Archival black.

Sponged Distress Dusty Concord around the edges.

Perfect Splatter Distress:

The first tag with this technique is below. Loved the background, but didn't care too much for it after stamping my image... Hence this one. BIG GRIN

For both tags I used Vintage Photo, Broken China, Forest Moss & Rusty Hinge; Perfect Pearls Kiwi & Perfect Bronze.

For this one stamped the map bkgr'd (Flourishes) and the word Journey (Quietfire Design) with Archival Black. The map image was stamped twice giving it a fussy look letting the word journey really stand out.

Edges sponged with Chipped Sapphire.

Perfect Splatter Distress: con't...

For this one stamped the elephant and word (Local King Rubber) with the Archival Black. Stamped the little bird (Kaiser Craft "Hummingbird") also with the black. Edges sponged with the Chipped Sapphire.

Hit the elephant with the side of a white colored pencil
