ID: Wheel
Of Fortune - Watermelon Anyone
Created: May 12, 2021 Our challenge for our June 8th meeting is to try the next structure in the book - Wheel Of Fortune #13 from Hedi Kyle's "Art Of The Fold" book. I altered the design by cutting it half (or basically only folding one side. |
after doing the watermelon wheel of
fortune, I decided to do various modifications...
The white one is as per the instructions, but not the paper size used. The one below the watermelon piece is a calligraphy one similar in construction as the watermelon piece. The polka dotted one is made from oriental paper and only the top points folded down. The large one is similar to the polka dotted one but I use a much larger piece of paper. (see below) |
|
I used a 17"w misc calligraphy paper and swiped various colors of stamp pads (VersaFine Clair) over both sides. Then cut the paper in half width wise to get 2 pieces 5.5" x 17" which I adhere together to get a 34"w paper. Folded everything like normal except not folding the bottom points upward. I really like the larger version. |

I used Arches Text Wove. I tested the
design on basic calligraphy paper and didn't really like it. Then I
colored some of the inside sections and all of a sudden it started
looking like a watermelon. But with the points being both on top and
bottom I decided to do away with the bottom points and cut it in
half length wise. Much better. So I took it apart to see where my
colors would land on the flat piece...
So folded the Text Wove, opened it up and painted with Winsor and Newton watercolors as per my first sample. Added the black dots with a black Sharpie and some white highlights with a gel pen. After refolding, forced the petals open . So cute - I'm content... |
