ID: Sling Fold #31 - Dreamer , Elephant Hide & Red Wrapping Paper Created:
January 18, 2023 Our challenge for our February 14, 2023 meeting is to try the next structure in the book - Sling Fold #31 from Hedi Kyle's "Art Of The Fold" book. See below for the one I tried first using the Elephant Hide paper - there are 2 weights I have and used the thinner one It's 9"h x 3"w closed. I wanted something smaller... again... so made the one on the left. I used Columbia Mills LBS End paper cut to 6"h x 20"w. It rolled better than the elephant hide... I cut away 1/2" instead of 3/4" each time. |
I rolled it first before I started decorating and writing the text... |

Sling Fold - Wrapping Paper
Still not happy with the paper... Even though it looks like it's sitting very nicely it took a while to force it in this position. sigh. I bought this paper at a greeting card store in Eau Claire Market more than 10 years ago... It's 1 sided to had to adhere an extra piece to either end. I thought the texture would help in keeping the rolls from sliding. Nope... |

Sling Fold - Roses Wrapping Paper
Finally one that actually worked... I bought this paper on a roll probably 20 years ago and it and a bunch of other rolls have been sitting on an upper shelf in one of my art closet... The difference between this wrapping paper and the previous one I tried, this one is very very thin. It rolled into shape right away without any fussing. I cut this one at 8"h x 25"w and cut away at 3/4" increments. |
