MC Nov/12 - Quill - Look For The
Dream cards
Created: November 11, 2012 I was going through my stash of quilled elements and came across a flower I had made and some extra quill petals and remembered there was a challenge that asked to use blue and white... I'm also using a lovely quote stamp from Quietfire Design

On the largest quilled flower, I had put glitter onto my quilled strips prior rolling them. On the other petal shapes I had colored one side of the white quill strip with a blue Tombow marker. Made tight coils for the centers, two of which I shaped into cone shapes. Each flower has a different number of petals... I like variety. For the petals under the quilled flower I sprayed Dylusians London Blue onto white cardstock, then sprayed with water to move the color more. Didn't blot the paper, because I wanted the intensity of the blue. Semi dried it then scrunched it up several times to get lots of creases. Opened it up and hit the high points with a Versafine Toffee stamp pad and embossed with white embossing powder. Cut out the two sizes of poinsettia flowers (Marianne Designs). (You'll eventually see a card made with the leftover negative piece - couldn't throw it away....) My main card is white, then a layer of matte blue (from my Paper Roots gift wrap stash). Then the white lattice (Spellbinders), then I mitre cut metallic blue glittered ribbon for a frame. Adhered my quilled flower elements. The lower right one is on 3D adhesive pop dots. Die cut the Fancy Tag (Spellbinders) from white cardstock, inked the ends with Perfect Medium and embossed with Silver Fire Opal embossing powder. Stamped my quote with Versafine Majestic Blue, clear embossed and then cut out into a rectangle shape. Used a corner rounder to get nice round corners to blend in to the tag design. Adhered the stamped element onto the tag then onto the card with a double layer of 3D pop dots. |
