ID: MC June/12 - Cactus & Adobe - Leave Behind card
size: 7"w x 4.25"h (closed)

I had made the cactus on the left at my last quilling session so thought I'd try using it... It was put into a quilled pot which made it too thick for a standard card, so cut it in half...

I'm using quote stamp from Quietfire Design

I found this gorgeous adobe image on line and used it as my inspiration. I drew the outline of the adobes and then outlined them with a Zig Writer, colored the buildings with Pan Pastels and then added the windows and doors with a Pentel pocket brush. The bottom street area is Distress embossing powders (Old Paper, Vintage Photo & Antique Linen), which gave it a nice sandy look and feel. Just perfect for cacti. I added punched flowers on the cactus to the right with a rose toned rhinestone center. I also backed that cactus on some cardstock for strength. On the left cactus, I added little black needles. I stretched a piece of black cotton thread on my craft mat and applied a layer of white glue, let that dry, which gave it a stiffness, l making it easier to handle and glue to the cactus.

Punched out the Brick Pattern (EK Success) from the cream toned cardstock, and added the same embossing along the small lip.

Stamped the quote with Versafine Black Onyx.
