Our Quietfire Design blog hop has ended but I had an itch during it to create this iced cupcake with a bunch of butterflies. This was the first chance I had to do that.

And I'm using the latest Butterfly Circles stamp set from Quietfire Design.. which is on special 20% off until January 23rd

Scored a piece of Kraft cardstock at 1/4" intervals, accordion folded it, unfolded then punched out the eyelet lace design (Martha Stewart Around the Page), refolded and adhered to a piece of white cardstock. Trimmed it down, adding the shape of the icing above. Smeared the icing section with Tulip Puffy white dimensional paint, heat dried so it would puff up. Adhered the pink gauze ribbon to the liner, then the thinner red satin ribbon, tying a bow to that one.

I created a silhouette image of the larger butterfly from the butterfly circle set and cut a whole bunch of them from various colored vellum using my electronic cutter. I then inked up the stamp using Perfect Medium, placed the vellum cut out onto my inked stamp and then embossed with white embossing powder.

I ran a piece of red vellum through my Big Shot machine with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder, hit the height points with the Perfect Medium and embossed with the white then punched out a bunch of small Sakura flowers.

Adhered both the butterflies and hearts to my puffed icing. Added a pale pink half pearl to the centers of the flowers. Stamped the cherry (Flourishes set #59), painted with watercolors, dried and added Glossy Accents, dried and cut around the cherry image, adhered to tip of icing. Can't have a cupcake without a cherry...

Using my cupcake shape created the easel shape. Adhered the cupcake to the front panel and added a small scallop circle die cut (Spellbinders) to the bottom to act as my stopper. Sponged with Distress Festive Berries.

Stamped the "Love..." piece with various Just Rite alphabet stamps (Curlz, Brayton), then die cut with Spellbinders Classic Hearts set, sponged some of the red around the edges.

Wrote the words "it's a ...." with a micron pen, cut out and used the eyelet lace punch on one end and just cut around the other end, adhered to liner.

I die cut the largest scalloped circle from decorative paper (Paper Roots stash), as well as part of the base of my card. Adhered the decorative piece. Sponged some of the red around the open area, embossed with Cuttlebug "Musical Flourish" folder. Die cut the next scalloped circle down, sponged with the red and adhered to the decorative circle. Stamped the butterfly circle with Versafine Black Onyx, clear embossed and die cut with the next scalloped circle down, sponged with Scattered Straw, Added the "Hugs" brad and adhered to layers. Adhered the little buttons tied with variegated thread. Added red Stickle dots to the scallops.

Note: part of the scalloped circle between the decorative layer and the sponged red layer is unadhered for the small scalloped circle to slip under.

card closed (although that flap at the bottom should have been laying flat...)
