ID: MC Jan/12 - Butterfly Cut Out - Valentine's card
5"w x 6.5"h (Gate fold/side fold)

I didn't know what direction I wanted to go in and I had a bunch of  things that needed to be thought about... then I started doodling and created the triangle flaps to cut out with my electronic cutter. The Celtic butterflies are something I saw on line, but needed to be altered slightly to cut them.

And I'm using a couple of the newest Butterfly Circle stamps from Quietfire Design..

After cutting the triangles out from white cardstock, I stamped the butterfly area with a stamp that was larger, but would fill it in (Inkadinkado "Gemstone Insects") using Distress Dried Marigold and clear embossing, then painting with watercolors. I inked the rest of the cutout with Versafine Vintage Sepia and embossed with JudiKins Rustique Tin Can embossing powder. Adhered them to Sookwang tape, trimmed down and sprinkled Ritz micro fine glitter "Warm Highlights", then adhered to card flaps. Trimmed it down to the triangle shapes. Rounded the corners and sponged Distress Marigold and some red around the edges.

Stamped the butterfly circle design with Versafine Black Onyx and adhered my Celtic butterflies which were also embossed with the Rustique Tin Can. Stamped the "Just fluttering by to say hi" using Just Rite "Curlz" alphabet set.

Die cut the smallest Nested Hearts, Sponged with Festive Berry, clear embossed, then sponged a bit more red. Adhered to center of butterfly circle.

Adhered the red gauze ribbons to the inside flaps, punched a vertical slot in the flaps to pass the ribbons through, then tied in a big bow.

Adhered the triangle gate folded piece to the sided folded card.

On the inside I stamped the quote with the black, then used the largest Nested Heart as a stencil and sponged the Festive Berry all over lightly.

Stamped the Happy Valentine's Day with Hero Arts "Happy Letters" alphabet set.
