I had a hankering to make a lattice work design for some quilled flowers... and decided to make it in the shape of a heart for my aunt's 80th birthday which lands shy a few days from Valentine's day...

I'm using a fun  calligraphed love stamp on the front and a birthday stamp on the inside from Quietfire Design

I started with a side folded white card, stamped the quote with Perfect Medium and clear embossed. Put a craft mat inside to prevent too much spill over of the sprays and sprayed with Dylusions inks "London Blue" & "Crushed Grape", misted with water and dried.

Cut out the abstract heart shape and kept it for the inside. Used 1/8"w white quill strips for the lattice, doubling them up for strength and trimming close to the edge of the heart shape as I was gluing them down.

Used my edging gadget to color the edges of white quill paper for the magenta and the blue flowers. Used Tombow markers to color one side of white quill strips for the multi petal flower. The small yellow and deep pink fringed flowers are die cut from metallic strips using a Quilled Creations "Mum" die plus a strip of quilling paper to create the centers. The bottom blue flowers have a twisted coil stem. The larger green leaves also have one side colored with a Tombow marker and I used an off set accordion fold technique. I added half pearls to several flower centers adhering them with an extra dab of Golden's Extra Heavy Gel Medium. The yellow fringed flower is the odd man out with a cup shape technique for the center.

Since you can see through the lattice I wanted a pleasing but neutral paper to show through, but I also wanted the same paper to show up on the inside, so splice this scrapbook paper together.

On my dropped out heart I wrote "80" in gold metallic pen and the "th" in a micron black. Dried it thoroughly, then stamped the "Happy Birthday" with Perfect Medium and embossed with white embossing powder. Then glued the heart to the inside.
