MC April/12 - Melted Crayons -
Happy Birthday card
Created: April 7, 2012 I saw waxed crayons placed in a row and then heated to allow them to melt and drip down... It's been in the back of my mind to try it this way, but something always came in the way. Today I came across it again and put everything else aside... This was a fun and spontaneous card and I love it. I'm using the birthday sentiment stamp from Quietfire Design

I did the melted crayon work on Arches Text Wove paper and used my heat gun to melt. My Stamping Up heat gun, sputtered and splashed the melting wax... so I switched to Tim's heat gun and that worked much better. Wrote in my words with a pointed pen for "Play", micron pen and Derwent watercolor pencils for "enjoy", the negative word "life" with a Pentel mini pocket pen on some scrap cardstock and then cut out, and the word "LAUGH" cut out from the paper. Layered it onto a mid range blue cardstock then onto a daffodil yellow cardstock, then white cardstock and then onto my Kraft easel card. |

Adhered some of the crayon wrapping
peelings to the front design and as a striped border on the base. Adhered various colored half pearls as stoppers Stamped the sentiment on some white cardstock and die cut with Spellbinders "Grommet Tags" and sponged Distress "Mustard Seed" on the edges. Adhered it to the base and attached a pink ribbon on one side and an orange ribbon on the other side. |
