Fun Letters Class #3 "Curlz" on Watercolor Paper |
Created: April 10, 2009 |
I used Twinkles H20's for this one in a bluish tone, a pinkish tone, a limey tone and then some gold |
Two versions of the Bon Voyage. one using the elongated monoline and the other done completely in Curlz. They are both done with the "water logged" technique I love doing. Basically you wet the letter (one letter at a time) with a lot of water so you see a raised kind of bubble throughout the letter. Then you dip your paint brush into very highly pigmented watercolors and drop the color into the water logged letter using just the tip of your brush to let color flow. Add another color in a different area or even close to the first spot (2 to 3 colors work best). This takes a while to dry, but I love the serendipitous way the colors merge as the water sinks into the paper and evaporates. |
This was also done with Twinkles but only the "voyage" had some gold tipped in. |

Two coloring versions of the words "Love U". The one on the left was done with Derwent watercolor Pencils. Both were outlined with a Micron pen. The one below was done with Tombows and a Sakura Stardust clear gel pen along one edge after it dried. |

Oops, seem to have missed coloring in the left hand curl on the "B". I used regular watercolors for this one but used my waterbrush which was filled with Winsor & Newton Iridescent Medium mixed with some water. Outlined with a Micron pen. These letters lend themselves so well for adding things. I used a couple small rubber stamps and Versafine stamp pad to add the flowers on the "M". It just looked like a vase to me. |
