Fun Letters Class #1 "Basic" exemplar & samples |
Out of all the monoline letters I've learnt over the years, this has to be my favorite, taught to me by Lynn Slevinsky. Although it's not totally true to its original exemplar. I've added and deleted little things to make it more to what I like. Creative License...

All the following decorated letters stem from this exemplar. |
To make life easier, I usually cut out a stencil from some scrap solid plastic in the shape of the rectangular section of the letter. I make it a bit longer to take into account the angels of some letters, which I draw in by hand later. This ensures all the rectangles are the same size... BIG GRIN. I like trying all types of coloring mediums to decorate my letters and I've made the exemplar so I could look back and it would jog my memory or spark a new idea. All the letters were first drawn in with a light pencil, then I went over the lines with a Zig black marker, then erased all my pencil lines. |

A - Lyra Colored Pencill |
|
This is done on the white cardstock using a small tip stylus and then using the flat of the colored pencil (Prisma Colors) to lay in the color. |
|
Using our same letters but with the bullet tip of a Zig Writer marker, then embellishing with various gel pens. Also adding either thin serifs with the fine tip of the Zig, or larger dots and coloring in the centers of the dots.
M - Sakura Souffle pen
(pale green) |
I first drew in the wavy lines and then added my quote using a Micron pen, then shaded in my colors using Prisma Colors (including a white and a Lyra Spendor Blender) and added the black Ritz Glitter in each diamond. |
