I received the final pages for my journal in mid November 2006. It took over 19 months to finally work its way back home. But the wait was worth every anxious moment.  I used the open spine binding technique learnt in Shirl Van Eaton's class in early 2006. I added an additional spine piece in the middle for added strength. This is a big, heavy book, my spine piece is 3" wide. I used a burgundy book cloth to cover the spine pieces and DMC cotton perlė thread in a dusty rose color. I also painted my linen hinging tape with acrylic paint in 3 shades of gold (in real there are nice nuances in the variation of the gold's)

I used book board for the covers and  the tissue paper metallic background Monica described in August of this year, with Liquitex glass beads, Pearl Ex, glitter etc. This was done both in the wet stage and the dry stage, just adding until I liked the background. I punched out a stencil for my title words from some cardstock, then used some molding paste (which I added some brown and grey paint to) to create the words "Art Idea Journal".

My frame was a black standard thick cardboard frame which I embellished with various colors of embossing powders, finishing up with copper UTEE in the "beading" effect. Glued it to the cover. Wrote in my words with various pens and some glitter.
