This series of ATC's started quite a while back. On my Byhand Group, we had a fibre swap and I thought I would do something a little abstract using the fibers I was swapping. Similar ATC's to these evolved. I loved the textural feel and look about these ATC's, so I continued creating them. I also did one for the House of Cards Exhibit in 2005 and was lucky enough to have it published in their catalogue. |
I started of with an 8.5" x 11" piece of standard cardstock. I Zyroned it, and working on abut a 1/4 portion at a time (so as not to contaminate the rest of the adhesive with stray fibers). I lay down my fibers in an undulating and swirling pattern. When the whole sheet was finished I cut it down to a slightly smaller ATC size. I used a see threw template to find the interesting areas without distracting myself with looking at the whole sheet. I mounted the fiber ATC onto a dark brown cardstock. Added beads or buttons (shank removed), glitter some ribbon and misc. items to add interest. On previous fibre ATC's I sewed the edges down for durability. For these ATC's, I used a clear 3 dimensional glaze by Aleene and just put a bead down the edge along where the fibers end (again for durability), and continued the glaze to the edge of the brown cardstock. It gave a nice finished look. |
