ATC A Month - Themes Blue or Oriental (Chinese/Japanese) (September 2007)

"Painted Silk"

Modified: July 26, 2008

I  took a mini class doing painted silk in Sept/07. Loved the piece of fabric I painted and decided to use it as accent pieces on these ATC's. They all start with a piece of the palest blue Bazill Monochromatic cardstock except for Kimono #1 which uses white cardstock.

For the Kimono I found the rubber stamp I was using gave me too large an image for an ATC size so I cut myself a new template slightly smaller but with the same configuration so I could use the rubber to detail the kimonos (Pink Cat Studio, part of 11 pce Oriental set), the background was done with an Oriental word stamp (Prairie Rubber Stamps #2182).

For the Goldfish (Evolving Images plate #67 and Oriental word stamp (Inkadinkado 13 pc Asian set)

For #1 I rubber stamped the Asian words with a Ranger Distress pad "Walnut Ink". The kimono was stamped with Color Box Petal Point "Gold" and embossed with detail Gold. The word Kimono uses punched out letters from the new Sizzlets long alphabet die in various colors. Cardstock edged with a Krylon Gold Leaf pen.

For Kimono #2, I rubber stamped the Asian words with the Distress pad "Denim". Same gold pad and EP for the Kimono and I added some 3D gold fabric paint on the sash. Used an Oriental alphabet stencil, a stencil brush and gold stamp pad then embossed with Gold detail embossing powder. Mounted the ATC to dark blue Bazill cardstock.

Kimono #3 same Denim stamp pad for the words. I used Color Box Petal Point dark blue and Sapphire embossing powder for the kimono. Sewed on some blue seed  beads to the sash. Dry Embossed the word Kimono with the Asian alphabet stencil then lightly skimmed my finger over the raised edges with some metallic blue rub on. Mounted it to dark blue Bazill cardstock.

For all the goldfish I rubber stamped the Asian words with a Ranger Distress pad "Walnut Ink". I only cut out the body section of the fish leaving the fins to be colored in on the cardstock. Added some detail using Peel Offs either as a corner accent or a border. All are mounted onto dark blue Bazill monochromatic cardstock.

For the first goldfish, I used Lyra Metallic Super Ferby and then used one of my glittery embossing powders. Dry embossed the word Goldfish with my Asian alphabet template and skimmed my finger over them with blue metallic rub on.

For goldfish #2 I just used the glittery embossing powder on the fins. For the Goldfish word, stenciled with gold and embossed with same as Kimono#2 above.

Goldfish #3 I used red/gold variegated gold leaf (love this one). I punched out the letters for Goldfish from some Oriental "Crane" paper. using my Sizzlets long alphabet die.
