Tim Holtz - Creative Chemistry 102 class - Day 3 - Smudge & Brayer

Created: October 12, 2013
Modified:

I decided to take Tim's On Line class again - Chemistry 102. And the start of Day 3.

Smudging: you can see the difference between the first tag which is straight stamping and then the 2nd generation stamping which has a soft appearance.

Tag 1 is the first generation of each stamping. Tag 2, the stamp is huffed and then stamped and then very quickly with a clean sponging foam, smudge the stamping. It softens the effect. When done sponge around the edges

Stamps from Dyan Reavely “Doodle Parts” Picked Raspberry, Peacock feathers, Gathered Twigs, and the leaf bunch Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed & Forest Moss. Words by Quietfire Design done with Black Soot

Distress Stains Brayered: This is such a fantastic technique with so much potential.

Put 1 color of stain on mat Broken China. Tap and roll brayer through stain to pick up color, then brayer on tag. Clean mat and apply next color etc – Scattered Straw, Aged Mahogany, Spiced Marmalade.
Clean mat, mist mat with water, pick up with brayer and brayer on tag, dry.
Sponge around edges – Mustard Seed, Gathered Twigs & Aged Mahogany.
