Tim Holtz - Creative Chemistry 101 class - Day 6  - Markers

I decided to take Tim's 2 week class - Chemistry 101. These samples are from Day 6.

Well right off the bat I can tell you this section of class will have to be redone when I get my Distress Markers... I know they have different properties then my Tombows, which is what I had to use. So looking forward to trying these exercises again with the right marker.

Watercoloring with markers:

I really like the way this turned out... Cheap 90# watercolor CP paper, cut with the largest of  Spellbinders Label 4 die. I sponged a bit of Distress Walnut stain around the edges and adhered it to a brownish tag. Stamped the word with hero Arts "Happy Letters" set.

Stamping with markers:

This is a fun colourful way of stamping. I used manila tags for both. The numbers (most stamps used are from Tim's sets) on the far left was the first generation, it was also very lightly misted with water. Then I did a 2nd & 3rd generation on the same tag, Sponged Dried Marigold & Walnut Stain around the edges and migrating to the center. Stamped the sewing line with Archival black. The buttons (Flourishes) were colored with the Tombows as well and lightly misted, dried, and re-stamped with Perfect Medium and clear embossed. The words stamped with the black and the same alphabet stamp set as above.

Couldn't waste the colors that were still on the stamp, so I really rewet the stamp, doing this for about 3 more stampings... Like the subdued tones and the watercolor effect. Colored more stamps, stamping over the background. Sponged Shabby Shutters & Broken China around edges and tag. Again using the same alphabet letters.

Blending with markers:

This became quite a colorful tag... I just applied my Tombows all over using all kinds of colors, then misted heavily , tilted back and forth and then dried. Sponged all over with Dried Marigold and Walnut Stain along the edges. Splashed water on it and dried. Stamped the floral sprig (Tim's "Fairytale Frenzy" set)with the black. Stamped the butterfly with the Perfect Medium and clear embossed. Wrote in my words with the marker tip.
