Tim Holtz - Creative Chemistry 101 class - Day 4 - Distress Re-Inkers

I love Re-inkers and Distress pads.... These samples are from Day 4.

One of the techniques is to create your own stamp pad to match a stamped image. I did several of them in the 1st class in 2012 - so that's 4 years ago, and other than using them a few times that year, they've languished in my drawer. So I pulled them out and stamped with them. The ink was still quite juicy, but the colors were not as per the image I put on the baggie. They had turned an all over brownish color. So either the inks migrated over time or longevity isn't the strong point. But even so the technique is a really fun one, so made another one...

I'm using white 110# cardstock for both tags cut with Tim's Sizzix die.

I've combined a couple of the techniques into 1 tag: re-Inker mists and creating a stamp pad.

Mixed up my sprays using 1 dropper full of re-inker and the rest H2º ("Mustard Seed", "Picked Raspberry", "Barn Door with a touch of Perfect Pearls gold powder", "Mermaid Lagoon", "Rusty Hinge"). Sprayed the cardstock with the 1st 4 sprays. Dried. Lay a stencil over the tag (ps this is one of my own hand made stencils using my funky monoline lettering.). Sprayed with the Rusty Hinge. Dried.

Stamped the "Butterfly Circles" Quietfire Design 5pce set) using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed.

Die cut the "Summer" Elizabeth Craft Designs (also available on Quietfire Design HERE) from white cardstock. Since my spray was right there used the Mustard seed to color the word, dried, inked with Versamark and clear embossed.

Created a felt stamp pad of the "butterfly" (Quietfire Design Butterfly/Dragonfly" 7pce set), inking the stamp using Archival Black, then using drops of reinker over any area that was black, starting with my lightest color - working to the darkest. eCut the butterflies (made an electronic file of these - so no fussy cutting...) from white cardstock, inked the stamp, stamped and either embossed with Pearlescent or clear embossing powder.

Adhered my elements to the card. Adding a Sari ribbon and a narrow ribbon bow as a final touch.

I inked my orchid stamp (Flourishes "Orchid") using Distress mini pads in the colors of the orchid, misted with water and stamped. Then used a paintbrush and watered down re-Inkers to add accents tot he flowers.

Created a mask (actually eCut the orchid...) and lay it over my stamping. Inked the Oriental Text background using Versafine "Vintage Sepia", heavily in the top area and lightly rolling the stamp in the bottom area. Dried, then sponged "Peeled Paint" al over, then some "Brushed Corduroy"

Die cut the word "Friends" (also available on Quietfire Design HERE) from Brusho colored watercolor paper. Inked with Versamark and clear embossed. Adhered to side of tag.

Stamped the word "Cherish" (newest stamp set from Quietfire Design "Jewelry Words" 6pce set) onto white cardstock using the Sepia. Placed my oval Fragment over the word and traced, then fussy cut. Adhered to Fragment using Glossy Accents. Let dry then inked the edges with Krylon Gold Leafing pen. Adhered to tag

Stamped the "Those Who Find..." (Quietfire Design "Always Be My Friend 3pce set) using the Sepia, then here and there with the black, clear embossed. Die cut with Spellbinders Oval die set, sponged edges with a dirty green sponge.

Final touch tied some Sari ribbon.
