ID: Marble #4 Gifts (July 26, 2007)

After our marbling session on July 20, 2007, we all agreed to make items for each of us from the papers we made.

These are the gifts I made. Thanks to Darla for directing me to a wonderful site where I got my inspiration for the cover flap.   " http://www.amstamps.com/geotut/"

Each gift has the "Precious Friend" (Kolette Hall value stamp) rubber stamped either on the inside flap panel or as part of the flap decoration. I wrote out the inside quote and then used it as a template using a light box to write the 3 pages using my gouache/gold powder mixture and used a script type nib.

The beads were wrapped around my awl to keep the shape and the hole using strips from the marbling paper. I then put several coats of clear embossing powder, giving it a real glassy feel and look to the beads. I edged the beads with either a silver or gold Krlon gold leafing pen.

The large and medium clear globs are from my stained glass supplies and I used Diamond glaze to adhere a piece of the marble paper under it. When dry I wrapped colored wire around it and added metallic beads and feathers etc.

I used an aqua colored cardstock for all 3 gifts. Each flap detail has a slightly different folding layout. Some thermal embossing was done either with clear & pearl UTEE or clear detail or mix of matching colors.

On the inside, I've attached a pic of my 3 friends marbling as well as a candid shot someone  took of me using my camera (sheesh)

I used pearlized cotton DMC thread in various colors as hangers and strung my 2 handmade beads at the ends of the threads.

For each envelope I used a stationary parchment paper. Drew in their names using a black micron pen and Kersals lettering and monoline. Colored in the main letter with Derwent "Inktense" water color pencils and added a dab of glitter and accents of Sakura Stardust Gel pens. For the rest of the words I used my Koh-I-Noor woodless pencils.

I added some decorative staples both on the flap to hold it down and loose on the wire trim.

The bead on this one is a purchased bead. Added a couple rhinestone brads. Clear blue mini marbles were stuck to the protrusions using diamond glaze.
