Finally using a bunch of my practice sheets of calligraphy... I have a pile that's about a foot high... so I raided the bottom sheets from one of the stacks.

One of our Guild members will be doing this style of structure in an upcoming class in 2016 (called Zhen Xian Bao). When I saw the image, I said to myself, I've done those kind of boxes before... not realizing what they were called - BIG GRIN. You can see one of the boxes I made eons ago (around 2005 or 2006) on a journal page for Charmaine Stack from the By Hand Artist's Yahoo group HERE - Boy is that bringing back memories...

I'm also using a sentiment stamp from Quietfire Design
("Create Without Limits")

You can see the video HERE by Paper Kawaii (https://www.youtube.com/user/paperkawaii), that shows the various box shapes really well.

I cut my various pages for each box (PS not the same sizes as the video...) and then applied acrylic paint using a credit card to smear the color very thinly. I just wanted a translucent layer  over my calligraphy - 1) to act as a sealer and 2) to add color... I used Distress acrylic daubers and applied them to my craft sheet ("Twisted Citron", "Rusty Hinge", "Mustard Seed", "Spun Sugar", "Spiced Marmalade" & "Cracked Pistachio").

The left side boxes:
bottom box - 2.5"w x 5.25"h
next box:  1.75"w x 4.5"h
2 square boxes: 2.15"sq
2 diamond boxes: 1.5"sq

The right side boxes:
bottom box - 2.5"w x 5.25"h
next box:  1.75"w x 4.5"h
diamond box: 1.5"sq

Cover made from decorated 90# CP watercolor paper painted with Color Burst powders and Coarse Kosher salt.

The inside of the cover lined with a Gelli print.

Ouchless hair elastic, stapled to outside flap and staples covered with more watercolor paper, both inside and out.

Sentiment stamped on another piece of the decorated paper using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. White shading done with a pointed Nikko G nib and Copic white Opaque mixed with water. Circle die cut with Spellbinders circle die set.

Quilled flowers with heat shrunk Perlé bead flowers for the centers. Some quilled leaves and a tiny butterfly die cut. Had this little corner flower die cut so added that as well...
