I haven't made one of these for about 4 years... But I decided to teach it this past Sunday as part of the No Sew Booklet class I taught. The structure was originally designed by Hedi Kyle and she called it a Blizzard Book, mainly because she made it during a blizzard... Normally the pages are the same height as the folded booklet, but I decided this time to make them larger and they're supported by each other.

I also raided my stash of all sorts of pinky toned cardstock. Some already had circles or dots stamped on them. Others I stamped on top of the decorated papers with a spotted stamp from Prairie Rubber Stamps and embossed them with various pinks & purples.

The backside of each page insert is covered with the thick mulberry paper. Each of the pages includes a flourish die (DieNamics "Fanciful Flourish") cut from copper metallic gift wrap paper (Paper Roots).

I'm using several calligraphic stamps from Quietfire

After making the booklet I decided to put it in a box to coral the pages BIG GRIN. So made the box out of 110# cardstock and then covered with thick textured mulberry paper. Stamped the "Happy Birthday" with Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed, then die cut with a Marianne Design set (LR0240). Adhered it to cover and added the rhinestones and pearls.

I found the Irish Blessing quote online and on each page wrote part of it, doing it in a monoline with a Micron black pen, then colored some of the inner spaces or letters in a pink and a yellow.

"May there always be work for your hands to do. May your purse always have a coin or two. May the sun always shine on your window pane. May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain. May the hand of a friend always be near you. May your heart be full of gladness to cheer you."

Last page: May your birthday be filled with love & laughter.

Back Page: The end, but not our friendship.

I used a Spellbinders Oval die to cut all the pages and then trimmed the interior ones to fit the booklet slot.

All the pages use the same "Lovely Peony" outline die from Memory Box. I used the negatives and positives as design elements, stencils and masks.

For the cover I used the large cardstock I cut the die with as a stencil and sponged Distress Mustard Seed. Then I placed the outline portion and sponged Picked Raspberry, then usedt he outline with the drop out pieces - I put tape on the whole thing while it was still in the die - and sponged Tumbled Glass all around. Stamped the "Flourish & Grow" with Versafine Vintage Sepia & touched some areas with the black. Added a punched out dragonfly edged with Krylon gold leaf pen.

Stamped the Quote on a decorated CS with the black and clear embossed, then die cut with a smaller oval die and adhered to back side of cover.

Die cut the outline from green metallic cardstock and adhered it to a piece of Sookwang tape. Sprinkled with Stickles Fine Glitter (Star Dust & Thistle)

Die cut the butterfly (Marianne design "Kaleidoscope") copper metallic CS. Cut around the die from a pink spotted embossed CS.

The flower uses the negative portion of the previous outline.

The outline for this butterfly (eCraft Designs) was cut from gold metallic CS. I cut the underlayer around the die.

The flower is another outline from the green metallic CS.

This butterfly (Memory Box "Vivienne") cut from the copper metallic CS and the body cut around the die from decorated CS using the Impression Obsession "Bubbles" background stamp.

The flower is another green metallic outline and then colored with Twinkles H2º's

Another Memory Box butterfly "Pippi" cut from the copper CS. the underlayer cut around the die from spotted stamp and embossed with amethyst.

Used the negative portions of the green metallic CS put onto Sookwang tape and cut around leaving a border, then sprinkled with the Thistle.

This butterfly (Joy Craft "Vintage Flourishes") was cut from gold metallic CS and put onto a neon pink spotted embossed decorated CS.

The flower outline was one I used on the 1st page, which I then embossed with Pearlescent embossing powder. The inside of the flower colored with a pink watercolor, then with Tombos, then an over layer of iridescent medium.

The back butterfly is one of the oldies from Spellbinders. A little chunky... from the copper CS onto a purple spotted embossed paper.

The lettering for "Friendship" is my "Fickle" lettering I recently created.
