The covers are made from book board and cut with a wavy edge. The outside is painted with Distress Crackle paint :Spiced Marmalade" and then rubbed with various stamp pads, color rubbed into and off with a cloth until I got the color I wanted. Added some faux Rhinestone gems in amber and clear. Wrote in the words "Treasure Trove" with a Zig marker. Added the Grungeboard lock which was colored the same way I colored the Grungeboard hinges. Versafine stamp pads in Vintage Sepia, Smoky Grey & Onyx Black, then with Brilliance Gold stamp pad to give it luster.
All the off set cover sheets were done with yellows, red and a touch of green and designs erasered onto the page then fixed with Krylon workable fixative, then the edge torn and distressed with Distress stamp pads in a brownish tone. The first sheet from each signature was decorated with various colors of Pan pastels either in Greens, Purples or Golds with each facing signature having the same color scheme.
The inside covers were painted with Daniel Smith Gesso's Venetian Red & Gold mixed and blended while wet.
I used faux Rhinestone brads as a decorative element and to add strength to hold the hinges (which were also glued in place) and the brad ends are covered on the inside with a matching strip of paper. The ring portion of the book closure is held with wire and imbedded into the cover, then painted. You can also see the knot of the macrame closure cord on the back cover which is reinforced with some glue. The closure is done with 4 ply waxed linen thread and double half hitches.
