ID: "Pipe Organ - Musical" |
Journal (closed): approx
6.75"w x 9.25"h x 1.5" thk.
Created: September 21/08
It was a labour intensive journal, from the hand cut musical symbols made from gold metallic mat board, to the decorative paper I used for the covers - Pan Pastels with rubber stamping and gold embossing and then cut out and glued to the cover, then the calligraphy done between the lines. The binding is also labour intensive with the beading on the spine. The other Pipe Organ book I did had 9 signatures and I did this one with 11 signatures of 4 sheets folded in half to give you 16 pages per signature and 176 pages for the whole journal. The paper I used is Antique Bond "Aged" Premium Quality bond paper by First Base Inc. |

The binding was done with a 2 4 ply waxed linen thread "Rose". The detail Pipe Organ binding was done with a 2 ply waxed linen thread "Plum" and a metallic 10 ply thread. I added the beads on alternate linear lines using the waxed linen thread. The horizontal cords is a twisted metallic cord. The covers are made from book board and the outside is covered with my hand decorated paper done with Pan Pastels, rubber stamped with a musical stamp (Quietfire Design Crow set) with Color Box Gold stamp pad and Queens Gold embossing powder. The Mat board was painted with Utrecht white Gesso and then with Deco Art acrylic paint "Flesh Tint". The decorative paper was cut in a wavy pattern and glued to the mat board. The lettering was the final thing to do when the book was bound. and done with a black micron pen in my funky monoline style. The musical symbols were cut from a gold metallic mat board and glued to the covers. |
