I've always wanted to do some Elephant books and found some elephant clasps that decided me to make them now. I used book board for the covers, cutting out the head and head ornament from mat board. Everything is painted with silver acrylic paint and accented with a grey Sharpie marker for the eye & ear detail. The head ornament is colored with a Brilliance "Rocket Red" stamp pad and clear embossed, then rhinestones (a red star and three clear mini stones) glued on with Diamond Glaze.

There are 12 signatures in each book. Each signature has 4 sheets folded in half giving you 16 pages per signature for a total of 192 pages of a grey granite stationary paper. The signatures are sewn using 4ply waxed linen thread "Slate Grey" in a buttonhole stitch over a twill tape reinforced with mat board. The spine is then covered with grey book cloth. The tail is braided from the same waxed thread and held secure inside the spine area with a piece of wire.

Inside covers & Page detail

Mother

On the front cover I rubber stamped the Elephant with her young (Pink Cat Studios "Wild Animal" set) using a silver stamp pad and Detail silver embossing powder. The words "Elephants Remember" is done with a red Stardust Gel pen and accented with a black Zig marker.

Clasp Detail

The elephant portion of the clasp rotates on it's axis for easy insertion of the clasp.

Mother Back Cover

The back cover is stamped with the same image as the front but using Versafine " Smoky Grey" stamp pad to get a tone on tone look.

Baby Cover

The words on the cover are written with a black Zig marker.
