Pentel Color Brush - Indirect technique:
Both cards use the Pentel Color Brushes in the same manner. The Pentel Color Brush is a very concentrated liquid ink and great for calligraphy or graphic applications. But I wanted a softer look, so I used them in an indirect way. I filled a water brush with a 50/50 solution of water and Winsor & Newton iridescent medium. I dribbled a drop of the mixture in the tulip then touched the tip of my brush onto the color brush, then started painting and blending, picking up more color as needed. I also touched the tip of the color brush in the tulip to get darker shades or to create detail.

The tulips (Stubby Stampers #3468) were rubber stamped  with Brilliance Dew Drops Graphite Black and clear embossed on white cardstock. Painted with the Pentel Color Brushes in an indirect way (see above). I used my Coluzzle nested rectangular template to cut the border frame and then cut away the negative areas in the flower section. Painted the border with the Pentel "Brown" color brush, dabbed with a clear embossing pad, leaving areas in the frame untouched, then embossed with Stampendous Pirate's Gold embossing powder. Mounted it onto a dark reddish brown cardstock.  Rubber stamped the quote (Quietfire Design "Keep your faith") once with Brilliance Dew Drops Coffee Bean and then a second time slightly off set with the Graphite Black. Glued a rainbow colored ribbon onto a medium toned beige cardstock and then glued my dark brown portion centering it on the card.

The tulips (Stubby Stampers #3468) were rubber stamped  with Brilliance Dew Drops Graphite Black and clear embossed on Bazill cardstock "Chiffon". Painted with the Pentel Color Brushes in an indirect way (see above). Filled out the areas between the flowers with some linear strokes to mimic grass and softened it with the water brush. I used my Coluzzle nested rectangular template to cut away the opening and then cut away the negative areas around the flowers. I rubber stamped my quote (Quietfire Design "Keep your faith") with Brilliance Dew Drops Pearlescent Ivy on a pale yellow vellum and glued one edge to the inside of the card using vellum tape. I rubber stamped the word "Happy Birthday" on the inside of the card using various alphabet stamps and color box multi colored stamp pad and clear embossed it. The vellum is not transparent but translucent so the words behind are lightly super imposed. I rubber stamped the butterfly (Prairie Rubber Stamps) on a scrap piece of the same cardstock on both sides and cut it out. Glued only the body portion to the card with Glossy Accents and imbedded some flower stamens into the body area to mimic the antennae. When dry I raised the wings to give it the effect of either flying away or just landing.
