This is my submission for the Vamp Stamp Magazine for the July 2011 issue with the theme of "Text as the focal image".

I really, really dislike top fold cards because they ALWAYS fall flat on their faces. So I try, when making them, to structure them so they don't fall. This is a perfect example of that. It's kind of like a faux easel card.

I used a full 8.5 x 11 sheet of 110# white cardstock. Made 2 score lines, one at the 4" point and one at the 8" point leaving a 3" bottom flap.

The kissing technique: I used various combinations of Distress stamp pad inks (Spun Sugar, Dusty Concord) and Colorbox Chalk stamp pads (Soft Pastel Petal Point set). Sometimes both stamps were inked before kissing, sometimes only the flower stamp was inked. I used a combination of either a light flower color with dark script or the reverse. I inked my orchid flower (Darkroom Door "Full Bloom" Vol 2 set) and touched it to my script background stamp (Glitz Clear Stamps "Distressing" set #D2343), then stamped onto my card front and clear embossed. I repeated that till the background was full with very little overlapping. I sponged Distress stamp pads (Pumice Stone and Forest Moss) all around the flowers and lightly touched the center of the flower. I concentrated the density of color in between the petals. I then stamped some leaves (Prima Marketing "Aurora" #511791 set) in the open spaces using the Forest Moss pad.

Note it's important to use a text stamp that has small print because the kissing technique reverses the image so the text would be unreadable, and being small you don't notice that.

I stamped 3 more flowers the same way, using the color of the flower where my quote would land and one for the stopper, then cut them out.

Stamped my quote with Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed it. Die cut it with a Spellbinders oval die and sponged some Spun Sugar around the edges.

Die cut a Spellbinders Beaded Oval from deep purple cardstock. Adhered the quote piece, and adhered it to the card front. Attached my flowers with some half pearl brads with a petal under the beaded oval piece and another on top.

Sponged the floor with the Spun Sugar and stamped the outline image of the orchid in Dusty Concord to create a pretty background. Adhered my last orchid to the floor to match the flower on the card, this keeps the card from falling flat.

I stamped the sentiment with Just Rite alphabet stamp sets with Dusty Concord. I then added 3 medium sized mauve half pearls.

I adhered a piece of decorative scrapbook paper of a lace background on the underside of the floor.

The last thing to do is add some Glossy Accents in the oval beads and move the liquid with a toothpick or skewer. Set aside to dry completely.
