This is one of my submissions for the Vamp Stamp Magazine for the August 2011 issue with the theme of "Solid Stamps".

This card uses my Cricut to cut a positive and negative leaf frame. The negative is used on the card HERE. It's a simple design created with the bullet tip of a Zig Writer and can be easily cut by hand as well - of course you don't get the negative portion as easily...

I applied Artquest Stargazer watercolors to a solid image butterfly by GG Designs (make your own butterfly set) using a small paintbrush, applying the Sol Yellow all over, then dropping in Mars Red near the body, then stamping on my white cardstock. While it was drying, I applied some Quaser Blue on the edges of the stamp and re-stamped. The other butterfly was the same technique using nebula green, with Celestial Violet, then re-stamping with Meteor Copper. I stamped the body with the Deep Sea Black. When totally dry, I doodled in the wings with a Micron black pen.

I made 2 masks of the butterfly and adhered them loosely to each. Then with the same stamp and an almost dry brush technique with very little color, I stamped a bunch using only the celestial Violet. Then did a batch, over stamping in areas and using the Quasar Blue.  Stamped bodies on only a few of these butterflies with the blue.

Stamped my quote (Quietfire Design) with the black.

I then created a leaf frame design with the bullet tip of a Zig Writer marker, scanned it and converted it for my Cricut. I cut it out on black cardstock and layered it onto my card.

PS don't forget not to throw away the negative of this cut out. You can pick the pieces up with a piece of double sided tape, make sure it's wide enough to give you a border. Press down only on the cardstock pieces and carefully lift up the tape. Try not to press the tape to the mat, it becomes difficult to remove.

Sorry, but it seems I can't include Zip, SVG or Scut files on my website, so, please click LEAF BORDER for an image you can save to your computer and alter as necessary.
