ID: MC Feb/15 - Quill Flower - Just 4 You - HB  card
size: 7"w x 5"h (easel closed)

Created: February 7, 2015
Modified:

Made a bunch of quilled petals at my last quilling session, so was enthused about putting them together BIG GRIN plus I've wanted to do a barn board type background.

Quote & sentiment stamps, from Quietfire Design

("Just for You" 4pce set); ("Twirl and Enjoy" 3pce set); ("Happy Birthday Plain and Simple" 7pce set)

I

I scored and folded my white cardstock to create the easel. Adhered a piece of mid toned brown cardstock to the front.

Stamped the barn wood (Impression Obsession CAC "Wooden Planks") by inking with Distress mini pads - all over with "Old Paper", then scuffing with "Brushed Corduroy", "Vintage Photo", and "Black Soot". Repeated the process to get a finished piece the size I needed. The join of the stamping is covered by the quilled flowers... adhered to card front.

Die cut flower sprig (Memory Box "Glorious Gerber Daisy") then colored it with the Distress Mini pads, adhered to card.

Die cut the leaf sprigs (Memory Box "Lorelei Leaf") and hit it with "Shabby Shutters", then swiped an Distress acrylic dauber - like a dry brush technique. Adhered within the daisy die cut. Then adhered my various quilled flowers.

Stamped the sentiment on white cardstock using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Die cut the ends using Spellbinders Label 42 "Decorative Elements", only only die cutting a 1/4 of the design and then just straight cutting to join the ends and trimming away a couple small details. Adhered to card.

I had made a bunch of bead thingies by melting plastic beads. Picked four semi clear ones and added black screw head lines using a Staedtler permanent black pen. Adhered with Golden's soft gel medium.

Die cut a bunch of butterflies. The larger one near the sentiment (Joy Craft "Butterflies & Border" set), sponged with "Worn Lipstick", removed from die and lightly sponged all over, then embossed with "Silver Fire Opal" embossing powder. All the little butterflies are the drop outs from one die (Memory Box "Butterfly Delights"), first swiping the red pad over the cardstock prior die cutting, the while still attached to the main piece of cardstock, embossed with the opal, then just popped them out of the cardstock.

On the floor I adhered a piece of leftover brown cardstock, randomly stamped the birthday sentiment using the Black Onyx. Adhered a piece of red satin ribbon as a break between edges. Used a pointed awl and Rangers white Enamel Accents to add faux stitching.

Die cut the red decorative glossy paper (made from left over inks on gelli plates), then die cut from white cardstock and adhered the 2 layers together. Stamped the quote with the black and clear embossed. Adhered to floor using 3D foam tape.

Die cut the Floral/leaf sprig (Crafts Too "Flower & Flourish") from white cardstock and colored with the mini pads. Adhered half to floor making sure when card is closed the top is still within the card boundaries, and putting a crease fold in it to act as my stopper. Adhered the last of my quilled flowers and added a few more drop out butterflies.

As a final touch add a piece of narrow lace on the left front edge.
