MC Nov/14 - Pop Up Starburst - XOXO Those We Love Cards

I came across this Pop Up Starburst on Peter Dahmen's website - he's a paper engineer that does fabulous pop ups and has several more  tutorials.

I'm using a couple quote stamps from Quietfire Design ("Calligraphic Love Bits" 6pce set); ("Christmas is the Day" 9 pce set); ("Those We Love" 2pce set);

I folded my white cardstock. Cut 3 pieces of white cardstock to fit as inserts and for the front and embossed using Ultimate Crafts "Winter Pinecone Flourish" embossing folder. gently hit some of the high points with Distress "Antique Linen" direct to paper, then lightly sponged "Tumbled Glass" around the edges. Used a Prisma colored pencil to color the blue flowers. adhered the inside pieces.

Created an electronic image (I'm lazy and don't like doing a lot of cutting...) of the starburst and cut from 110# white cardstock. Folded as needed, then used post it notes as a mask and inked and embossed each section individually - tedious I know... using Versamark and alternately embossing with "Holographic" and "White Gold" embossing powder. Stamped the "Merry Christmas" using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed.

Stamped the quote in 2 parts, masking off the section not to be inked using tape, inking with the black, stamping and clear embossing. Cleaning the stamp and repeating the process for the 2nd part. Adhered the starburst.

On the front, sponged some brown around the edges, wrapped the 3rd embossed panel with a light blue/brownish Sari ribbon and adhered to card.

Punched our a tag (Paper Shapers) from white cardstock, stamped the XOXO with the black, clear embossed, inked and sponged with the Distress, tied a silver thread and adhered the hanger to the card, under where I adhered a bow.

Had a matching glittered blue butterfly from a previous project and adhered that.
