I took a refresher class in Blackletter with Renate Worthington yesterday. She's such a fabulous teacher. So of course I needed to use them to keep them fresh in my head... Still lots of practicing needed, but I was quite content with the progress I made.

I wrote in my quote using a 3.8 Parallel Pen and Sumi ink. When dry I colored the tops of the letters with a silver Super Ferby metallic colored pencil. The monoline lettering was done with a Copic .3 pen, and the author's name with a .1 pen.

I manually embossed the design around the calligraphy using a Cuttlebug snowflakes embossing folder and my hard rubber mallet.

The snowflakes were quilled from Quilled Creations brand Bright White paper. The larger one was daubed with Ranger's embossing fluid and then silver embossed. The smaller flakes were also daubed, then embossed with Stamp n Bond, heat activated and sprinkled with Distress glitter "Star Dust". Each snowflake has a rhinestone center.
