This card started with a recycling challenge. I pulled out a new bottle of Elige Shower Gel by Mary Kay, and the box was beautiful. Silver on the outside and a jacquard black on black design on the inside. And the little gold logo is so gorgeous.

I was going to incorporate a soda can flower as another part of the recycle thing, but I had these fabric flowers I made the other day and the pink one was crying to be used... And that's how it started.

This card uses the French word for butterfly (Butterfly/Dragonfly 7 pc set) and the large Flourish design, both by Quietfire Design

The flower is made from some silky blush pink color material. I cut out my scalloped shaped flowers (8 scallops), then folded the flower and dipped the point into some Ecoline inks. It wicked up immediately, so you have to be careful you don't color the whole flower. You want a two tone or graduated tone to the flowers. Repeated this 8 times.

The scalloped shape of the flower: I cut out a heart shape to use as a cutting template. Folded a square of material (approx 2.25"sq), folded it in half and then in quarters. Placed the tip of my heart at the tip of my folded quarter aligning the sides of my heart with the sides of the folded square, and cut out the scallop portion only.

Assembly is sewn together by folding a scalloped flower in half, matching the scallops. Folding in the center so the fold is towards you, then folding the flaps on either side towards you so their fold lines are away from you. It will look like a triangle with a curved top. Sew through all 3 folded areas near the pointed tip. Continue doing this with each scalloped flower and sewing together. When all done, gather them taught and sew one end to the other and tie a knot to secure. Fluff up.

Note: make sure when you are sewing each scalloped flower to the next that they are always attached in the same direction with the side flaps opening to the outside of the flower.

I started with one of my used tissues in greens and adhered it to white cardstock. Used Tim's Elegant Flight for the butterfly wings. Then used the shadow shape and die cut from the Elige box. Added a bit of Ritz micro fine glitter "Cool Highlights" in the bottom open area of the large tissue cardstock wings. Die cut the body from the silver part of the box. Adhered the wings near the body portion only, so the wings could stand apart.

I used a Spellbinders oval die to cut the silver medallion, and then used another oval for the black under layer, both cut from the box.

The background cardstock is done on white cardstock, repeatedly stamping the large flourish with perfect Medium and clear embossing it. Then I mixed up a Mini Mister with a bit of Ecoline inks (Yellow Ochre, Prussian Blue & Fir Green), then some Perfect Pearls (Kiwi & Perfect Gold) and then some distilled water, shook it up and misted my cardstock, leaving some areas with less spray. I then sprayed those areas with some Glimmer Mist "Old Lace". Dried it, then ironed the clear embossing off between some clean newsprint paper. I love the way it turned out and you can see by the detail pic below the glimmer from the Perfect Pearls and Glimmer mist is quite visible.

So layered the flourish cardstock to my main white card. Then the ovals, then the butterfly. Stamped the word Papillon with Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed it.
