I was in a mood to use up some of my humungous pile of decorated papers. So I deckle edged pieces cut from my stash - a fun bunch of unusual colors, some done with used Kleenex from a painting or calligraphy session - I'm smiling when I look at it, then sewed them on to some thin cardstock. I'm entering it in several challenges and some of them call for non square card, so that started me in the direction I needed to go. So I cut out this 5" circle, looked at it for quite a while, adding this and that and not being happy. What to do with this huge circle...

The background is stamped with the happy Birthday stamp from Quietfire Design.

The main card is white (only 3.5" w), layered edge to edge with a pink cardstock, repeatedly stamped with happy Birthday using Versafine Imperial Purple.

Since the circle was made with several layers of papers and cardstocks, the side edge was a little messy, so covered it with some Tissue Tape. I don't usually use that stuff and I wasn't that happy with it. One of it's characteristics is it's repositionable. So you got it, it kept lifting and I wasn't  happy. I then punched out Swirling Lace border (Martha Stewart - punch around the page border punch #42-60051) from some variegated scrapbook paper. I pinched it between the scallops and adhered it to the edge of my circle - now that edge looked better, but just to finish it off, I added a very thin rose toned ribbon. Now to make this a funky flower, it needed a stem, so out came another piece of decorated paper in deep purple tones. Die cut it with Spellbinders Doodle Parts (#S4-121) and sponged some green on it (hard to see).

I die cut the butterfly from some of the variegated paper from above with Spellbinders "Flying Beauties" (#s4-123), run through again to dry emboss then sponged some Distress Broken China & Tattered Rose. Adhered some floral stamen, adhered to circle and added the rhinestones.

Also added a large green toned rhinestone to the flower stem
