AA - Poppy Thanks

Created: August 25, 2010 This card started out with the Rubber Stamp Chat, Auntie Amy August challenge. I had also gotten some of Auntie Amy stamps a couple months ago and they're really pretty, great for coloring as well.

So I stamped my poppy onto 90# arches HP watercolor paper and colored them in with Tombows and my waterbrush. Used a Spellbinder's Labels 8 die, embossed it and colored the edges with Distress browns. So my focal point was done. The hard part were those 2 squares within the rectangle. Since my image was so large, and I didn't want to hide my artwork, what to do? Then I thought of making resin squares, which are totally clear. Ah!! but when I poured my resin, they wouldn't stay in squares... Alas my squares are anything but square. BIG GRIN. I was in a brown and yellow mood today, hence the color of the main card and 2nd layer. I had thought of putting red floral rhinestones, then changed my mind to the yellow ones. Didn't want anything fighting with my poppy. I finally stamped the sentiment (Quietfire Design) with Versafine Toffee and embossed with the Top Boss embossing powder "Mac n Cheese". I'm always looking for an opaque bright yellow. Not easy to find. |
