ID: MC Apr - Giraffe Bonne Fete card
Created: April 12, 2010 This card is just so not my usual style, but I must admit, I had fun creating it.

I started with my favorite critter the Giraffe (Artful Stamper "African Queen" #CM1397N) and stamped it on white cardstock with Versafine Black Onyx, clear embossed it, then smeared one of the brownish Distress pads over it, cut it out. One of the challenges was to use spots and dots paper, so pulled out my animal print paper. For the dots I embossed a piece of "Chocolate" cardstock - core of pink, with the Cuttlebug "Circle Dots" embossing folder, then sanded the high points bringing out the pink tone. For the flower, I cut 12 pieces of various colored Tissue Paper into squares the size I needed for that flower on Tim's new Tattered Flower Die. Sandwiched them together with a bright yellow brad. With the scraps from that, I placed them on another piece of white cardstock, then misted generously with water and watched the colors bleed. The upper right hand area has one that still looks like a flower. I wrote a bunch of words on each of the petals "Dream, Believe, Wonder, Surprise, Beyond), using a Tombow orange toned marker. Die cut the stem of the flower from a Sizzix "Decorative Swirl" #656045 from mat board and sponged Crushed Olive on it. Cut the mouth area of the giraffe so I could fit the stem through it. That's him bearing a gift of a flower... Rubber stamped the sentiment (Quietfire Design) with black and clear embossed it then die cut it with a Spellbinder's Oval die, sponged color around the edges. Die cut the fence posts (Sizzix "Fence" #655352) from mat board as well. It's the 1st time I'm using it and have had it for a couple of years. Pleated the green grassy ribbon and stitched it to another ribbon to hold it in place, then adhered it to the card. First time I'm doing that as well. |
