ID: MC Apr - Easel - Leave Room
Faeries card
Created: April 7, 2010 I really love making easel cards. I think it's one of the best card designs around. So versatile and it doesn't collapse... like other top fold cards. So I've accomplished a few challenges again with this card:

I have wanted to do an easel card with a Spellbinder's die for a while now. I finally did one... I used the Labels #8 set. Folded my cardstock in half and placed it in the die, just shy of the top cutting edge so my fold would still be there after cutting. I then folded the easel portion in half at the scalloped point. I cut another piece for the front design . The image is a peel off type design sticker - have no idea what brand but the number is (#P MD 6605). Amazing they'd put a product out without any identifying company name. Not good salesmanship. It has an integral clear piece attached to the outlines, so I traced the major points of the image, transferred it to my die cut, colored it in with Prisma colors and then lay my peel Off on top. I ran the die cut through again to emboss it, then sponged Distress Crushed Olive on the background. Rubber stamped the Tree Branch of flowers (Magenta - Botanicals #CS-043) with Versafine Smokey Gray. Added some Ritz micro fine glitter "Warm Nuances" Adhered it to the front flap of the easel card. Die cut a gray piece the same size for the floor of the card. Then die cut one size smaller in pink. Rubber stamped the quote (Quietfire Design) with the gray, then clear embossed it. Put it through the machine again to emboss the edges and sponged some Distress Victorian Violet around the edges, then adhering it to the gray piece. |

Punched out some flowers from some of my faux batik papers, adhered them one on top of the other and added a mother of pearl pink toned button, tied everything together with a piece of waxed linen thread in Fuchsia. Adhered the bottom petals only to the floor of the card. Tied a bow in some variegated gauze ribbon and adhered it to the floor as well. |
