This card won 1st prize for category and 3rd prize for section at the 2004 Stampede art & craft contest in the Handmade Greeting Card - Invitation Category.

This card is made from cream colored "Stonehenge card stock with a scalloped envelope folded bottom edge to hold the removable notes. The cowboy hat and boots on the cover are done in colored pencils on a off white toned card stock and glued to the main cover.

I painted a thick type of porous paper with different tones of brown ink and some gold pearlescent ink and then splotched it with rubbing alcohol. I tore the paper in shapes like I imagined cowhide to look, overlapped them and sewed them together with brown embroidery floss then glued them to the card. The lettering is a Blackletter hand in gold ink. The removible inserts are rubber stamped with a blank stamp, using brown and grey inks, then wet edged to let the colors bleed. The lettering is Monoline in a brownish gold.
