This is another prototype for the gilding class I'll be teaching although it didn't work out as expected, so a lot of improvising..

I had wanted to use the Cuttlebug embossing folders to create and embossed design on the main card and then add in the strip of gold leaf. That  just wasn't possible, since my card is larger than the embossing folders and the fold on them is from the top, and when you emboss on something larger than the folder you get an embossed edge, like a border around your image from the folder. So I ended up cutting out my embossed design instead. Will have to rethink the folders. Might cut one apart and see if I can get around the top fold or the unwanted frame edge. The leaf branch was done on a really nice olive toned cardstock.

The main card is done with a pale green/deeper green inside cardstock from the Whitewashed set. I did my strip using Sookwang double sided tape and then applying my gold leaf and then dry embossing my designs. Not recommended. The Sookwang tape keeps the gilding in a raised cushiony feel to it and is highly susceptible to scratching and still has a slight sticky feel to it, although nothing was sticking to it. Maybe just my imagination. The dry embossing was also more tedious. So will go back to applying liquid size... big grin.

I had put double sided tape on my cut out leaf branch, so that was easy to adhere to the card.

The word sentiments are some of my calligraphic Peel Offs available from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

you can see the dry embossed impressions were rounder looking and less crisp.
