We started thinking about doing Key Knot Patterns in February... In March I finally did one using an alphabet letter... then I did another one and when I hit 4 letters I decided to make a book to hold them in... I'm putting them in order of making them... and I've posted details about several and decided to dedicate a web page to them all...

Title: Dorothy Parker - Celtic S Key - Creativity
Size: 7.5"w x 6"h

On Canson Mixed Media paper the Celtic key pattern was created from a funky letter "S". you can see more about that on my blog HERE

Text written with a Speedball Elegant Writer 2.5mm pen in an unknown funky style of lettering.

words: Creativity is a wild mind and a disciplined eye. Dorothy Parker

Celtic B Key - Blue Bird

size:7.25"h x 5"w

While I had the "S" standing on my desk and looking at it I saw this funky "B" and I was off on a tangent...

On Staples 110# cardstock drew out the key design. I cut out the "B" shape from some misc cardstock and just drew around it, twisting and turning where needed... I added various blue colored glitter on the long narrow triangle shapes. The gold borders are Gansai Tambi "Blue Gold" paint. The dark blue small inner triangles are done with blue Mattehop pen, the black lines are Zig Writer. Lettering with a Frixion blue pen and outlined with a Juice Up pen.

Celtic e & a Key -
size: 8"h x 5"w

I thought I'd do an "e" and when I was playing with it... there was the "a" as well. ROFL

Again I created a template of the letter from some cardstock and then just twisted and turned it to create the design.

On Canson Pro Layout Marker paper using a Staedtler Lumocolor F pen inked over my pencil design. (I ran out of my Zig Writer...) Colored with Posca colored pencils ("e" in green and yellow blended and the "a" in aqua & yellow). I drew gems in the small rectangular areas (emerald & sapphire). Applied variegated leaf to the long rectangles.

Still practicing my Art Nouveau lettering... with a Juice Up pen.

Celtic Z - Shades Of Brown:
size: 5"sq

On Canson Pro Marker paper using my cut out template created the design using a Zig Writer, then I thought some of the lines would work as a knot pattern  and then I was in a mood to add spaces between my pattern... You know how these things evolve...

Colored the negative spaces with Posca colored pencils in... shades of brown... and then decided to doodle inside some of the letters using brown Juice Up pen and a Unibal Signo Gold gel pen. Lettering for the words is something I came across on dribbles.com

Celtic Key Pattern - Z - Zees
size: 3.5"h x 5"w

On Fabriano Mixed Media paper using a Signo Black gel pen. Painted using Finetec Rose Gold (given to me by a good friend) and Gansi Tambi "Light Gold #905"

Word is one of the Art Nouveau lettering style from my recent class with Violet Smythe.

Celtic Key Pattern - G - Quirky
Size: 6"w x 5"h

On Recollections black cardstock using a pointed nib and Bleed Proof White ink drew out the outline. Colored with Black Edition colored pencils.

Decorative detail done with Juice Up Metallic pens in various colors. Added the word "Quirky" using a Signo white gel pen in a funky Art Nouveau style.

Celtic Key Pattern - T - Lift Off
Size: 6"sq

On Canson Pro Marker paper created my design border, colored with Prismacolor broad edge markers.

Lettering with a Juice Up pen

words: T minus zero
and we have lift off.

Celtic Key Pattern - O - Okay
Size: 4"w x 5"h

On Canson Pro Marker paper created my O-Emerald design border using a Faber Castell calligrapy broad edge C pen (1/10"), colored with Posca colored pencils.

Lettering with a Juice Up pen

words: Okay

Celtic Key Pattern - NZN - Comfort Zone
Size: 5"sq

On Genoa Bond calligraphy paper drew out my 1"squares, drew in the "Z" and then the 2 "N's" using a Faber Castell Pitt artist calligraphy pen (1/10"). Added design element to distinguish each letter (white dots, dashes and gold mini squares). Colored with Posca colored pencils. Outlined the borders with a red Zig Writer. Text written in a kind of monoline/Art Nouveau style.

words: create a NEW comfort ZONE NOW

Celtic Key Pattern - C - Coffee
Size: 4.5"w x 5"h

On Canson Pro Layout paper drew out my 1st pattern then copied it multiple times...

Colored the background with a dark brown Koi watercolor brush pen. The cream colored letters with Prisma colored pencil. It almost looks like the dark brown section says "cup"... but it's really just on-between 4 "C's"

Text with a Faber Castell Pitt calligraphy brown broad edge pen pen and the corner of the pen for the rest of the text.
