The raven/crow's foot binding is a relatively simple binding that uses a frame in the binding process. Some bookbinding experience recommended but not absolutely necessary.

The book block is attached to the legs of the raven with a running stitch and a wrapping technique.

The booklet in this sample is a close sample to what you will make.

I used LBS end sheets from Columbia Mills. My journal has 9 signatures of 4 folios (total 36 pages per signature). Page size is 6"w x 6"h. The covers are mat board covered with heavy mulberry paper. The legs & feet are 4ply waxed linen thread.

SUPPLIES: You will need to bring

  • your choice of paper to make a minimum of 6 to 10 signatures of approx 3 to 8 folios with a page size of approx 4.25" to 6" w & h. (cut a normal piece of copy paper or scrapbook paper in half to make 2 folios). You are welcome to mix your papers - ie. watercolor paper, cardstock, text paper, specialty paper etc. Note: Place signatures under some heavy books for several days to compress them.

I will supply: mat board, cover paper, eyelets, waxed linen thread, label & bird image, and all tools.

Class and payment Policy:

PAYMENT POLICY: Please note, a reserved place is on a first come first paid basis. Send me an email to let me know you'd like to attend and which classes/dates/times you're signing up for. I will send you a Pay Pal invoice and put you on the list. If I don't receive payment for the class, either by Pay Pal or check within 4 working days after I send the invoice, your name will be dropped down the list.

Please note, checks will be cashed immediately. No refunds issued unless I have to cancel the class.

START TIME: Please note the time of each class and BE ON TIME. It's very inconsiderate if you show up late and disturb everyone else. The class will start on time and you will have to catch up as best you can.

Please also note, "do not bring any tools with you unless you need advice with something".
