Criss Cross Binding - aka Secret Belgian Binding

The Criss Cross binding, also know as Secret Belgian Binding developed by Anne Goy from Belgium is a relatively easier binding than the caterpillar, but is also not a beginners binding. Some book binding experience recommended.

The book block is done with a running stitch and kettle stitch binding. Then attached to the covers with the Criss Cross stitch.

The booklet in this sample is only a sample, not the actual booklet you will be making.

I used LBS end sheets from Coumbia Mills. My journal has 9 signatures of 4 folios (total 16 pages per signature). Page size is 5.5"w x 7"h. The covers are mat board covered with decorative beaded design paper & book cloth.  The book block is done with 2ply waxed linen thread and the covers with 4 ply waxed linen thread.

NOTE: I have an added element which is not included in the class - The closure is by Zutter (Perfect Closure)

SUPPLIES: You will need to bring

• your choice of paper to make a minimum of 6 to 9 signatures of approx 3 to 8 folios with a page size of approx 4.25" to 5.5"w x 7"h minimum to 9" h. You are welcome to mix your papers - ie. watercolor paper, cardstock, text paper, specialty paper etc. Note: place signatures under some heavy books for several days to compress them.

• a new glue stick

• OPTIONAL: please feel free to bring decorative paper for your covers and inside covers. I will be supplying a standard paper only. And any closure you would like to put on.

I will supply: matboard, book cloth, Standard covering paper, waxed linen thread and all tools.

PAYMENT POLICY: Please note, a reserved place is on a first come first paid basis. Send me an email to let me know you'd like to attend and which classes/dates/times you're signing up for. I will send you a Pay Pal invoice and put you on the list. If I don't receive payment for the class, either by Pay Pal or check within 4 working days after I send the invoice, your name will be dropped down the list.

Please note, checks will be cashed immediately. No refunds issued unless I have to cancel the class.

START TIME: Please note the time of each class and BE ON TIME. It's very inconsiderate if you show up late and disturb everyone else. The class will start on time and you will have to catch up as best you can.
