Fun Letters Class #3 "Curlz" on Black

.

I first colored in my letters with a white Prisma colored pencil, then with a fine tipped stylus, through a piece of clear plastic cellophane type paper (so you don't get a coating of wax from the colored pencil on your stylus), created my embossed designs. Then colored over the designs with the flat of my pencil.

Because I did the white coloring first and then the dry embossing I got a white pattern design.

You can also do your designs first without the cellophane paper, then with the flat of your white pencil color in your letter and then do the coloring again with the flat of your pencils.

Also note the way the letters intertwine with each other. On several of the other samples the letters either lay side by side (usually touching) or just lay on top of another letter. But with this one I really wanted a bit more interaction between the letters.

The image does not do the lettering justice... The outline is a white Ranger's Inkssentials pen. I then used some Crayola crayons as a resist to put some design into each letter. I then colored over them with some water colors (Fine Tech brand of Pearl watercolors), but any watercolors will give the same effect.

Again note the way the tail of the "S" wraps around the "k". To me it feels like a hug and this style of "Thanks" would be given to someone special who you enjoy hugging.

This is another one that the image is not so great. Sorry. The outline is done with a Pentel Hybrid gel pen (which I don't recommend) then colored in with ArtQuest "Stargazer" watercolor palette and accented with little dots with a Sakura Stardust gel pen.

I was pleasantly surprised by the results of the Bruyunzeel Design Pastel Pencils (from Holland) on the black paper. They have a soft look to them, although the pic at right is a bit more vibrant than real life. And I didn't fix them with any sprays.
