Stampede10 - Believe - Courage

This was a serendipitous piece. I had made the frame work as a mask template of another project. When done, I was looking at the template and really liked it, and didn't want to just stuff it or throw it away.

It started out as a white piece of cardstock, with the blue area cut away. I sponged Distress stamp (Mustard Seed, Rusty Hinge) to get a nice orangey tone. I rubber stamped a large seafan (Starving Artistamps #56.03) and a text background stamp (Local King Rubber "Words 1) with Versafine Black Onyx.

I sanded down a piece of Graffix clear plastic and wrote my words "Believe in your self" with a Mitchell medium tipped nib and Sumi Moon Palace black ink in a Blackletter style. Adhered it to my center portion with Glossy Accents.

Did several drafts of the second quote using a Mitchell nib as well and the Moon Palace ink. Then traced them onto the translucent Shrink Plastic with a Micron pen. (I tried writing it with the Moon Palace, which worked well, but when baked to shrink the plastic, it didn't hold up). I finally decided I liked it better using the Micron pen. Shrink plastic is also a very serendipitous material, and it showed up in this piece going curvy on me. But I liked that quirk. Attached it to the piece with the four small blue bards. Put a piece of blue textured cardstock behind the piece, then mounted it all onto a very heavy textured white paper called Coral Reef Paper

Quotes:
It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are. e. e. cummings.
