Ruby Treasures
7"w x 10"h
matted: 11"w x 14"h

I entered this piece into the 2006 Heritage Fall Fair contest and it won a 1st place ribbon.

I used Arches HP watercolor paper. Used regular watercolors and painted my grapes and leaves. I did the black background section with my Pentel mini pocket brush pen (love the black in there). Wrote my words using Dr Martin's copper metallic ink and a Speedball C-4 nib. The ink is very very thick and very hard to get my beginning and ends nice and sharp edged. Of course my nib probably wasn't so great either. I tried using both water and a thinner, but they both diluted the ink too much.

Words: Every season hath it's pleasures. Spring may boast her flowery prime yet the vineyard's ruby treasures brighten autumn's sob'rer time. Thomas Moore

I used a white mat and a Designer Metal Frame "Old World Pewter" which has a nice warm feel to it.

Needless to say there is quite a difference from a scanned image and a digital camera image.
