I recently learnt the Husking technique in Quilling and with all new things I learn, I like to put into practice right away, so I designed the husked heart with quilled inserts and added the dragonfly which is also husked.

PS for those who do not know what husking is (which I didn't either), it means to wrap your strips around pins to create your design, rather than free form coiling. So easy.

I used an off white Bazzill Monochromatic cardstock as the base. Drew in my letter "H" in a Versal style using a Zig marker, then coloring it in with ArtQuest Metallic watercolors.

The husked heart is done with red strips and filled in with white and pink strips. The dragonfly is done with Oriental red paper with gold flowers on it, doubled over and cut into strips. When the wings were done, I used a wide glue stick and sprinkled on some gold Ritz Glitter. The body, eyes and antennae are done in black with a touch of Stickles Ice on the eyes.

I used a scrapbook marbled designed paper on the back and created an envelope opening to insert a piece of cardstock which had a bunch of humorous jokes/quotes on it. I added the fibres through a red heart eyelet.
