Size: 2.5"w x 3.5"h each ATC This week's challenge was to use stencils. I'm a little under the weather having a cold, sniffles , congestion and just feeling ecky, so I might just ramble a bit. Sorry. Suzanne just posted a background technique that she did for a background swap we're all in. It sounded and look so yummy, that I wanted to try it. Well, because I'm feeling under the weather, I had to try a few times before I got anything I liked. I feel like I'm pushing a heavy object up a steep hill. My art just isn't flowing the way it usually does. But with perseverance I finally came up with this week's challenge and am content. The background technique starts out with CP 140 lb watercolor paper (I used Fabriano Artistico). Very concentrated walnut ink made from walnut ink crystals, Distress embossing powders. Also Schmincke Tro-Col Gouache, Copper - well you see I'm just not all there, I even can't read right because I didn't use gouache, I used gold and copper powders. OK, wet your paper with water, then brush on the walnut ink, while wet, sprinkle on the Distress EP, and the Schmincke Tro-Col, then heat set a small area at a time. See Suzanne's background pic. I then took a piece of Black Spectrum cardstock and put a layer of glue, using my wide 2 way glue stick, lay on some Red variegated Gold Leaf. Used the stencil (Dreamweaver 3 leaves #LL471) on the back and outlined the negative areas, which I then cut away. Mounted it to a peach toned Bazzill Monochromatic cardstock, then onto my background, then onto another piece of Bazzill carstock. Rubber stamped the words "Inspire", "Create", "Art" (Quietfire Design from the 6 pce Gentle Word Set) using both Black Staz-On and the Inkadinkado Opaque White. |
