Created: June 21, 2011 This weeks theme is Sun/Moon or Yellow I've used a quote by Quietfire Design. |
I recently saw this silk
flower online and wanted to try it. Worked well. I die cut 4 sizes of Spellbinders Circles from a piece of blush colored polyester silk material. I believe the largest circle was around 3.5". I then made slits about 1/3 down to create 5 petals. Held each petal over a candle flame to get the heat to curl the fabric. Careful, it can catch fire easily so have a bowl of water handy and nothing flammable near you... Continue rotating the flower and doing each petal. I also used some tweezers to hold my fabric and the rest of the petals out of the way. When all four layers are done I sprayed them lightly with Adirondack Butterscotch and a bit of Glimmer Mist in a peach tone and dried them. I then punch a hole in the center. I also made a little fringe piece from some brown cardstock, then put a pearl brad through the lot. I die cut the Labels 20, the 3rd one up from cream cardstock, the 4th one up from a deep yellow C'ordinations, dry embossed and sponged some Distress around the edges, the 5th one up (largest) from a bright yellow cardstock. Each was dry embossed. I then used the largest die as a stencil to cut around the outside edge to make a cream toned mat. Stamped my quote with Versafine Vintage Sepia. and added some white half pearls in various sizes. I did a direct to paper on the front of the card with distress Dried Marigold & Mustard Seed, misted with water and dried. Then embossed with the Flowers folder from set #656978. Since it was a beautiful repeatable pattern I had no problems doing the whole card. I then touched the high points with Fired Brick, Dried Marigold and Mustard Seed, then clear embossed. |
