December 27/11  "Flower Dies"

Created: December, 2011

Size: 5"w x 7"

This week's theme is to use Flower dies or Out with the Old. - No way do I go out with the old, I keep everything...

Love these perfume bottles... I did another card with perfume bottles made out of Tim's movers & shapers Ornament die and decided to use Spellbinder's dies to make them as well. So even though the dies were meant for this time of year... they can be used for any time. Just thinking outside the box.

I'm using a sentiment from the French set and part of an Xmas stamp from Quietfire Design.

I die cut the largest of Spellbinder's Nested Hearts from white cardstock and also the 2nd & 4th size up from the 2010 Heirloom Ornaments.

For the one on the left: Sponged Distress (Scattered Straw, Wild Honey & Dried Marigold) on the white cardstock, misted with water and Perfect Pearls "Sunflower Sparkle" mist, and dried. Die cut, cut off the top (it's turned upside down for the bottle) then embossed with part of a Cuttlebug embossing folder "Celebrate with Flourish" from set #2001044 - the leaves from the roses folder, hit the high points with a Perfect Medium pad and embossed with copper embossing powder. Cut off the top of the smaller ornament and embossed with the copper as well.

For the one on the right: Die cut the largest of the Nested Hearts from the white cardstock, embossed with Cuttlebug Lacy labels set #2001047, sponged Distress Forest Moss all over and clear embossed. Stamped the word "Eternity" (it's a word from the "You may not be able to leave" quote stamp on top of the clear embossing, using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. It became muted and imbedded in the previous layer of embossing. The stopper was embossed with the copper. Added green and amber rhinestones.

The flower is a tutorial I found on line from Swirlydoos which really worked out well. This time I used Spellbinder's Dahlia set instead of a punch for the bottom two rows of large petals. Colored my white cardstock first with Distress Stains (Scattered Straw, Mustard Yellow & Wild Honey), misted with the Sunflower Sparkle, die cut then cut between the scallops almost to the centers. Scrunched them up on the shaft of a pencil, then opened them up again. Note, the back of the paper was also colored. The small cluster in the center was done with a Sakura medium flower punch, 4 of them and 1 from a larger Sakura punch. The first couple are scrunched tight and glued together almost, then the next 3 are glued on the bottoms, then glued to the larger base. Used the tip of a bamboo skewer to apply Aleene's True Snow to the tips of the petals, and while wet, sprinkled Ritz micro fine glitter Warm Highlights".

The main card is cream toned. Stamped the other word and part of the quote with Versafine Vintage Sepia. Added copper Peel Off lines.
