"Purple - Mylar - Bird in Grass" easel card
Size: 5.5"w x 4.25"h

I know Mylar has been around for ages, but I only got some a couple days ago. This one's specifically for card making.

Ran the white/iridescent Mylar through my Cuttlebug with the "Bird Call" #37-1169 folder, then die cut it with a Spellbinder's oval die. I die cut a larger oval from some decorated paper I didn't like as a whole, but as an accent border, looks great. (see you can't throw anything away)

I also lightly sanded the high points of the bird and grass and colored them with Tombow watercolor markers, let dry for a couple seconds, then wiped most of the color off. I just wanted a hint of color to keep the delicate feel to the image.

I made several button medallions (you can see tutorial HERE) using the Martha Stewart corner punch "Gothic Arches" #42-50011 from a pink and a blue Mylar and a slightly larger one from some misc decorated paper that matched the colors. I also used a large ball stylus to give some form to the shape. (Mylar holds it's shape which is great for mailing - it flattens in the envelope and pops back up when taken out of the envelope.) Attached them together and to the card with a large pearl silver brad.

The main card is a deep purple, and the front flap is embossed with the Asian Bundle "Plum Blossom" flower design using a rubber mallet. I then adhered my die cut elements and added one of my calligraphic Peel Offs, silver, under the design name of Elizabeth Craft Designs.

The floor section is a separate piece adhered to the main card in the same purple. I punched out a small section using the Martha Stewart Hydrangea border punch (hard to see unless you look closely on the left side) and rubber stamped the words "my friend" (Quietfire Design) then silver embossed it.

NOTE: These and other Peel Offs are my calligraphic word sentiments on the "Elizabeth Craft Design" labels. There are 11 styles available at the moment with another 2 to be available some time in 2010. They come in four different colors (gold, silver, black, and white); "Thank You", "It's a Boy, It's a Girl", "You're Invited" Congratulations" "Happy Birthday, "Love"; "Friends", "Thinking of You", "Xmas Seasonal", "Xmas" & Happy Anniversary"
