PP Theme June 2010 - Textile

Finally I had a thought as to what I wanted to create for our theme of Textile this month. I had done a one off sample using Tim's Tattered Flower Sizzix die and a satin/silky material. Worked well, so made a bunch more, spritzing them with a bit of Glimmer mist in a Peach & Berry. The material was already a light peachy Pink tone, so it just added some depth to the edges.

Now what to do for the backgrounds. So I decided to let my fingers play with my sewing machine, and this big box of scarp material I had. I didn't even change the color of thread... it was black. So I sewed various lace and satins to a piece of cardstock, doing random patterns etc. Then cut them down to ATC size.

Now I also finally used up these trims and ribbons I took off other sewing projects eons ago. So that stash went down a bit. I either sewed on the trim, glued them on or used double sided tape, depending on the type of material. Used big bright brads for centers and for some I added a paper flower. Adhered the textile stuff to a complimenting cardstock. As a final touch, I wrote words onto Shrink Plastic with a fine tipped Sharpie pen, baked them and attached them with 2ply waxed linen thread.

When I look at the scanned images, they just don't do them justice. I tried photographing them as well, but both ways, the flowers don't show up properly. I have the same problem when I'm scanning stationary or scrapbook papers. C'est la vie.
