The Bow Valley Calligraphy Guild has a theme of Gold ATC's for this month's Galleria. A while back I got this advertising postcard in the mail. It was a glossy realtors postcard on thick cardstock. For some reason I couldn't throw it away. I thought it would be great to do some alcohol background on it instead. Well that didn't work out the way I had anticipated, so I covered it up with Utrecht's gesso (it's a thick kind of paste type gesso), creating craters and textures. When dry, I used Golden's fluid acrylics to paint the the gesso. I love the colors (Jenkin's Green, Quinacridone Burnt Orange & Iridescent Bright Gold). Then rubbed some "Rub On's" metallic colors. I had put it aside and forgot about it. Was cleaning up and found it and decided with a  bit of gold leaf on it, it would be perfect for our theme. So I used the wide chisel tip Zig 2 way glue stick and just swiped it across randomly. Stuck on the composition gold leaf and then lightly sanded a few areas where there was too much gold. I was very happy with the results. Cut out small rectangular pieces and stuck them to a bright yellow cardstock. Wrote a quote with a Micron pen. Then mounted it to a "Heritage" red cardstock.
