"Tissue Paper/Acrylic Backgrounds" (August 2006)

Modified: July 26, 2008

All of this batch started out from a large piece of Strathmore 140lb CP watercolor paper. I gessoed the paper (one side only) and continued with the instructions Monica gave. I used the watered down glue, lay a scrunched up piece of white tissue paper on the wet surface moving the tissue to create lots of creases and interesting areas. Put a layer of the glue mix on top added some Liquitex glass beads and lots of different colors of mica powders smooshing things together and just having a blast. When it was all dry I cut my rectangles for my ATC's.

I covered the whole background with Ranger's Glossy Accents dimensional glaze. When dry I added the word Adventurous using my alphabet punches and some left over decorated paper I had. I put a piece of mauve colored web/net ribbon on top and added a bit more Glossy Accents to hold the ribbon down. I found it obliterated my word too much so I added the colored brads and used a  black Zig marker to write the letters of my word. I sprayed it with Crystal Clear so the letters wouldn't rub off too easily. Added some glitter. Mounted it onto a bright yellow cardstock.

I wrote the word Boldness with an aqua Zig marker and coated this background also with Glossy Accents. When dry I added my turquoise metal wire art which I had hammered flat. I used gel medium to glue down the wire art and my green mini rhinestones and added the 2 flower brads. Mounted it onto an aqua cardstock

I wrote my word "Challenging" using my embossing technique then covered the background in and around the letters with Ranger's Glossy Accents. When dry I glued down the wired re-enforced ribbon with some soft gel medium and then added the 2 faux shell beads and some copper glitter. Mounted it onto an orange cardstock.

I wrote the word Courageous with a red Zig marker and coated the background with soft gel medium Added some more glass beads and glitter. Took the shank of a heart shaped button and glued it down with medium as well. Mounted it onto pink cardstock.

I covered the whole background with Ranger's Glossy Accents and added the red glitter. Did some wire art using red wire and hammered it flat and attached it with 2 red brads. I used an engraving tool to write my word "Determined" onto a piece of copper, altered the copper using a candle flame then added some green umber acrylic paint into the letters and rubbed off the excess. Mounted it onto a yellow cardstock.

I wrote the word Diabolical with a purple Zig marker and coated this background with Aleene's Paper Glaze. When dry I added Deco Art Fashion Beadz Purple Passion and some glitter. Glued a layer of Angelina between my background and my purple cardstock. Used mini gold eyelets (from Quietfire Design) and sewed the cardstocks together with purple metallic floss tying it on the upper left side and adding the bunch of fibers.

I wrote the word "Fearless" using very thin dark green wire and anchored it to my card with very very thin copper wire (you can see some of the anchors on the detail pic at the joints of the letters). Mounted it onto yellow cardstock and put an edging of glass beads and plain glitter.

I wrote the word Intrepid with a green Zig marker and coated this background with Glossy Accents. I added some punched out corners attaching them with large pink brads. Double mounted it onto a textured mint green cardstock then onto regular green cardstock.
